Choosing the Right Installer

Two things determine what’s possible: what the space will physically allow, and the level of investment you choose to make. Beyond that, the outcome depends on the experience of the installer.

Forty Years

Experience takes time. It takes ten years to become an expert.

Years 1–2

Demolition, substrate prep, waterproofing, and tool handling — all under direct supervision. Nothing is done alone.

Years 3–5

Working independently. Standard layouts, start to finish.

Years 6–10

Master level. Troubleshooting complex waterproofing, specialized systems, and custom finish work.

Year 40

Luis has been doing this for forty. “Ten years makes an expert. Forty years means I’ve seen it before.” — Luis

What Goes Wrong in Bathrooms

A bathroom is the most demanding room in a home. Every day it withstands standing water, constant humidity, temperature swings, and years of daily use. Most bathroom failures aren’t caused by the tile itself — they’re caused by how it’s installed.

Water behind the tile

Loose or hollow-sounding tile

Cracked grout and corners

White residue (efflorescence)

Stained or discolored natural stone

Shower floors that never fully dry

Each of these failures has a cause. Knowing how to prevent them is what experience brings to every installation.

What makes success

Before the First Tile Is Set

A problem found now is a decision. The same problem found after the tile is set becomes demolition.

Every successful bathroom begins long before installation. Luis evaluates the space, the substrate, waterproofing requirements, drainage, layout, transitions, and material selection before any work begins.

Luis measures the space and checks the substrate.

If something won’t work, he’ll tell you before anything begins.

My Signature

My reputation goes in with every tile.

A bathroom should be judged by more than how it looks the day it’s finished. It should look the same ten years later.

When Luis leaves, he leaves more than a beautiful bathroom. He leaves his signature behind.
